National Dental Plan
Getting the dental care you need has never been easier. With the National Dental Plan, you can spread the cost of treatment over time with easy, interest-free payments. Whether you need a simple clean or a complete smile makeover, NDP makes it possible to start treatment now and pay later—without the burden of upfront costs.
How does it work?
- Interest-free payments: NDP offers payment plans that are entirely interest-free, ensuring that you only pay for the actual cost of your dental treatment without additional charges.
- Flexible payment options:
- Short-term: For treatments up to $2,000, you can choose 2.5 months (5 fortnightly or 10 weekly payments) or 5 months (10 fortnightly or 20 weekly payments).
- Extended: For treatments over $2,000, payment terms can be extended up to 12 months.
- Quick approval process: Applications can be completed online or in-clinic, with approvals often granted within minutes.
- Coverage: NDP can be used for a wide range of dental services, including but not limited to:
Qualification criteria
To apply for the National Dental Plan, applicants must:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
- Have a valid Australian driver’s licence.
- Possess an active Australian bank account or credit card.
- Be employed (either full-time or part-time), self-employed, or receiving an aged or veteran’s pension.
DentiCare payment plans
DentiCare is an automated direct debit payment facility that allows you to pay for dental treatment in smaller, scheduled payments rather than all at once.
Key benefits:
- Spread payments over an extended period
- No interest, no credit checks, and no credit contracts
- Flexible terms—up to 36 months for orthodontic treatments or 25 months for other treatments
- The clinic covers the 4% merchant fee, so there are no additional costs to you
How to get started
1. Determine your treatment plan with your dentist.
2. Pay a 20% deposit to begin your treatment.
3. Fill out a simple one-page direct debit request form.
4. Pay a $39 setup fee to DentiCare.
5. Commence regular payments to DentiCare as agreed.
Who can use this service?
- Must be an Australian permanent resident over 18 years old.
- Must have an income source other than Centrelink.
Things to know before choosing DentiCare
- A 1.9% surcharge applies if using a credit card for direct debit payments.
- The minimum treatment value for DentiCare payment plans is $1,000.
- Not all treatments are eligible for DentiCare—please discuss with your dentist to confirm availability.
