What’s covered under CDBS?
The CDBS covers essential dental treatments to keep your child’s teeth healthy and strong. Covered services include:

✔ Fissure sealants to prevent cavities
✔ Tooth fillings and extractions
✔ Root canal treatments
What’s not covered?
The CDBS focuses on essential dental treatments, so orthodontic procedures, cosmetic treatments, and hospital-based dental services are not included.

Is your child eligible for free dental care?
Your child may qualify if they:
✔ Are between 0-17 years old for at least one day in the calendar year
✔ Are eligible for Medicare when receiving dental services
✔ Belong to a family receiving certain Australian Government payments
How to check eligibility
Checking is quick and simple:
1. Log in to your myGov account
2. Call Medicare at 132 011 (available 24/7)
3. Ask us! We’re happy to assist you in verifying eligibility.
$1,132 dental benefit cap
CDBS benefits are available over a two-year period, giving flexibility in how you use them:
✔ If treatment starts in 2025, benefits remain active until December 2026.
✔ Use it all in one year, or spread it over two years.
✔ Any remaining balance in Year 1 carries over to Year 2 if eligibility continues.
✔ A new benefit cap may be available in the next two-year cycle.
Examples of benefit usage:
Year 1 (2025): Uses $720
Year 2 (2026): Access remaining $412
Year 1 (2025): Uses the entire $1,132
Next eligibility cycle begins in 2027
